OPEN HEARTS RECONCILING COMMUNITY and FRIENDS in Central NE and beyond:

Where did summer go?  We hope you had some good things happening in your lives this summer and we come together again this Sat at Blue moon coffee shop downtown GI to catch up a bit!  Join us at 11 am at the coffee shop across from the GRAND THEATER in G island, NE!   Thanks Mena for doing summer group email and planning this!
 
Here are the upcoming dates and learn more in person sat at 11 am or call someone you know in Open hearts if you have questions:
 
Ongoing TUMC Diversity Mission Project:  Sudanese Children's ed time, give service and help with this program each Sunday from 1 - 2 PM, Call Jan Coghlan, Family Ministries at TUMC if you can help with snacks, subbing, teaching a small group of children, youth, music or art, library or games, confirmation program on Wed etc.
 
Believe OUT LOUD:  1) Sign up to be a Reconciling U Methodist today (RUM) by going to the website www.RMNetwork.org or get a card at our sept meeting 
 
2) Give offerings to RMN at our meetings and Summer Email offering for NE Statewide Reconciling Network 
 
3) Tell and write our SACRED stories!   We will Tell our stories, write our stories, share our stories in our group --

Remember Hastings PFLAG events and coffeetimes nearby in Hastings!  Go to their website for more info and the Sept gathering is with the GSA at the college and a potluck!  http://hastingspflag.org   Rev Scott Taylor music events coming too! i will send another email if you can join Scott for some of his singing and fun! Scott does our HIV AIDS benefit concert and is pastor at the UCC in G Island!

Aug 21:  Blue moon, Coffeetime for Open Hearts folks, 11 am, join in the conversations!
 
Aug 22:  All God's Children Forum, TUMC, 10 am, Gollagher Chapel: TENNIS SHOE Sunday so wear your T shoes and hear about Walking and Reading to help others!
 
Sept 7:  Meeting at 7 PM with melanie, TUMC:  Transformational Journal:  A One year journey through the Bible and Journalling!  The book is $24 and let Melanie know so she can order enough books!
 
Sept 12:  AIDS walks in six cities this year the same day!   Get more info Sunday at the All God's children forum or at www.nap.org   Get your pledge sheet at TUMC, online or print one out from the email i sent yesterday!   Get some friends together and go to hastings college or come hear Don Messer at UNK, 1 PM Rally and Walk to help others.
 
Aug 22 - Oct 15:  Reading Challenge for Hassan the orphan we support at TUMC, get your pledge sheet today and pledge yourself or pledge others!
 
Sept 19 :  Open Hearts Sept Meeting for fall:  3 PM, 2:30 Fellowship so bring a snack to share and come early to welcome new folks.  New persons come at 2:30 to read Support group Guidelines.   Program:  Summer Reflections and Upcoming Events, Inspiring Communities in OCT at Hastings college, Brian whitecalf --   come and welcome others!
 
Sept 19:  10 am Gollagher Chapel:  All God's children Book group: EAT PRAY LOVE with Cathy denman and friends
 
Sept 21:  NE UMC HIV AIDS Task force, TUMC at 1:30 PM
 
Oct 10 : FAIR TRADE FESTIVAL,  TUMC 10 am, Gollagher All God's children forum, video and Fair trade products for sale!  If you are a fair trade artist (you derive your living from your art) and you want to share some of your art, contact Maureen or Susan Stoppkotte at the church offices in early sept.
 
Oct 14 - 16:  LIGHTEN THE BURDEN III Conference, Dallas Texas, UM global AIDS fund and UMCOR, Conference on HIV AIDS, www.umglobalaidsfund.orgor contact maureen mvetter@charter.net   There are two of us thinking to go from NE and driving!  10 hrs! REGISTRATION is due Sept 20 so let Maureen know ASAP.
 
Oct 22, 23:  INSPIRING COMMUNITIES CONFERENCE, Hastings College, Brian Whitecalf is our rep for the planning of this event!  Find out more info from Brian and this fall!  Tell your friends as this is the first time this event has come OUTSTATE from Lincoln and omaha!
 
Nov :  Celtic Light Service (Date coming) All God's Children forum with Debz Bartlett and friends, 10 am, Sunday morning before Thanksgiving!
 
Nov 14:  Incompatible with Christian Teaching Movie and filmmaker, 2:30 PM, Saint Paul UMC, Lincoln downtown, contact  Rev Steve Griffith, Saint Paul UMC, tell your friends! 
 
Nov 20:  OPEN HEARTS Reconciling Community on a SATURDAY, 1 - 3 PM,
Thanksgiving Gathering:  Bring a snack to share at 1 PM, Sacred stories project, upcoming events, Thanksgiving Offerings for RMN, Fundraising and CLAB calendars for 2011 (NE for peace sells them to us at a special rate so we can do a fundraiser with them!  Unique calendars for holiday giving! 
 
We are trying TWO saturday meetings this year for folks who cannot come on Sundays!
 
Deb 5: World AIDS Day offerings and LIGHT FOR THE JOURNEY service, Baskets of LOVE for TUMC Emergency HIV AIDS fund and UM Global AIDS fund~  More info coming!   If you want to be a part of this planning contact maureen vetter, cathy denman or carole denton.  Celebrate HIV AIDS testing at TUMC Parish nurse offices twice a month now!  TUMC is an official testing site!
 
January coffee get together, Blue moon, date to be determined:   Winter book :  Voices of the Kingdom, Bishop Spong book for Horizons of Faith in march, catching up!
 
Feb 20 Telling OUR STORIES, Open hearts gathering, 2:30 fellowship time, 3 PM program

April 16, SATURDAY, 1 - 3 PM, Open HEARTS Reconciling Community:  Telling our stories with Marta Wheeler, sharing her story of her brother TIM and HIV AIDS
 
May and summer:  BBQ and Summer coffeetimes, pride events, MFSA dinner Lincoln etc
 
Anyone want to show the movie FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO in their home sometime this year?     See you all this year!  You are welcome to our worship services at TUMC or other places of faith in the area!   We Celebrate our Diversity as persons of faith! 
 
Invite your friends to our gatherings and remember the AIDS walk and Crop Walk for Hunger coming in October to G island!   Get involved in service and missions to your neighbors!
